The Somerset Energy Innovation Centre is led by a consortium of partners, working together to help South West companies access supply chain opportunities in the low carbon sector. SWMAS, Business West & Somerset Chamber of Commerce, are three of the leading business support providers across the South West.

SWMAS help and inspire ambitious manufacturing and construction businesses to develop their capabilities and enter new markets. Established in 2002, we successfully design and deliver national and local business support projects and improvement programmes to increase productivity, improve operational efficiency, develop skills and maximise growth potential.

Business West is one of the most influential independent business leadership organisations in the UK, representing and working with over 18,000 businesses across the South West.

Somerset County Council has been proud to support the Somerset Energy Innovation Centre with funding, assisting with the project management and through bidding for additional funding from the European Regional Development Fund. The Somerset County Plan includes a vision statement that “Somerset is a thriving local economy, which attracts jobs and investment” and the Somerset Energy Innovation Centre has a key role in helping to achieve this.

The Somerset Energy Innovation Centre project is part financed by the European Regional Development Fund Programme 2007 to 2013. The Department for Communities and Local Government is the managing authority for the European Regional Development Fund Programme, which is one of the funds established by the European Commission to help local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support local businesses and create jobs.
